About WetnWindy

WetnWindy was formed in 2015, initially called OptimistCrazy.  It has expanded to cater for more classes of sailing dinghy and supply ropes, sails, fittings and other dinghy parts. We also provide information, as we have experience of sailing in most classes.

At the Start

WetnWindy (previously Optimist Crazy) was created by Neil Wooldridge (2015) to help Optimist Sailors achieve their potential. The intention of being a portal where you can obtain all the information you require to sail an Optimist and also supply the equipment you need to succeed in the Optimist Class. It is aimed to benefit both the sailors and the parents of Optimist sailors whatever their level.

About WetnWindy, Neil and his Family

Neil is passionate about sailing having sailed (mainly dinghies) all his life. Having  won an Enterprise National Championship, he was captain of his University Team Racing and represented the British Universities. Sailing Lasers he came 2nd twice in the New Zealand Masters Nationals. His most satisfying achievement was winning the UK Laser Club National Championships in 2000. Experience has been gained sailing in many different classes of boats from J24s, Squibs, Mirrors, RS boats, Lasers. He now wishes to pass on his knowledge to you. Neil is recognised YNZ coach and has coached at Wakatere as well as his kids.

Having experienced the huge learning curve, while his son Robbie and Daughter Daniella were learning to sail their Optimists, he appreciated it took a long time to learn about the boats and equipment, which clearly indicated that there was a need for a company where information was offered when customers purchased equipment.

WetnWindy was formed

The online shop and business supplied boats, parts, sails and accessories that people need to compete in the Optimist class. However,  many of the stock lines are interchangeable between the dinghy classes (e.g. rope, wind indicators, ratchet blocks and pulleys), hence the Company was expanded to Wet n Windy (2018). Other types/classes of boats and parts are now available.

Neils children, Robbie and Daniella continued to sail different boats such as Open Skiff (Bic),  Feva, P Class, Starling, Starling Match Racing, 29ers, ILCA, Nacra 15, Waszp, IQ WIndfoiling and 420s. Every Class has something different to learn!

WetnWindy offers parts online via the web-shop as well as pickup from Milford by arrangement.  The web shop is still evolving as we are learning about new distribution methods.

Business Hours / Shop

WetnWindy is different to a usual shop. Neil is happy to respond when he can during most hours between 8am to 6.30pm, usually 7 days a week. Phone calls are easiest.

The Web Shop is open 24/7. Delivery can be arranged or pick up from Milford North Shore organised, usually by talking to Neil.

Boats are stored off site in a Unit in Kemeu and most other items available from our Milford address.

YOU NEED TO PHONE NEIL BEFORE MAKING THE JOURNEY TO MILFORD TO ENSURE SOMEONE IS HOME. Collection is usually ok most hours, as goods can be left outside the front door (if nobody is home) as there is a camera monitoring them.

Crazy Coach

The information that was collected and is still being collected, is now to be relaunched as CrazyCoach. This website will be available soon.
