Choices of what to buy!
When you buy a Winner Optimist, talk to Neil at Wet n Windy whom can suggest the best setup for the weight and experience of your sailor. You can buy a new Winner boat built in Denmark then shipped to New Zealand. New boats can be personalised with gel coat colours of your choice. Above are a few examples of choices of gelcoat and coloured grip being changed. You can buy a hull, a hull and trolley, add rigs and foils or buy the whole package including covers and a sail. New boat prices depend on the exchange rate at the time your boat is purchased, shipping costs depending on how many other boats are shipped at the same time and the specification you require. See below for an estimate of pricing. It can take between two and three months to obtain boats depending if there is stock in Denmark, time of year and shipping schedules. PLAN AHEAD.
Things to consider.
Do you have more than one child in the family to whom the boat can be handed down to? Due to the longevity of Winner 3D Optimists, it can be competitive for several children. This is because of the quality of the gel-coat used.
The quality gel-coat is stronger hence needs less maintenance during the season.
Your child will have piece of mind. They will be using the same hull as the top sailors in NZ and the rest of the World.
Ensure the rig and sails match the weight of your sailor. Rigs once outgrown, if maintained, can be on sold second hand. Sails can also be on sold to up and coming sailors needing a training sail!
Foils. – Currently the DSK brand is considered the fastest foils in the world and is consistently used by the top sailors. Again and again I have seen sailors change to DSK and jump up the results!
Get good covers to protect your investment whilst it is being stored and whilst traveling.

The best value is to buy a Winner boat complete with all the items listed below including the NZ registration for a new NZ sail number and a JSail of your choice: Price $14495 (the individual items cost slightly more each as there is a package discount)
Remove JSail of choice: Deduct -$850 …. eg Complete boat without a sail is $14495 – $850 = $13645
Remove Rig of Choice eg Optimax: deduct -$1195 …. eg Complete boat without rig and sail is $14495 – $860 – $1195 = $12450

The minimum package is the Hull including measurement certificate, airbags, mainsheet 3:1, rudder fittings, winner maststep, centerboard elastic, tow rope and mast clamp. $10090.
