As well as quality of build, Winner Optimists are renowned for their consistency at the top of the fleet. In New Zealand Winner boats only account for approximately 40% of boats sold yet consistently account for over 80% of the top 30 boats in the rankings!

2022-23 season

Nationals: Most sailors prefer to sail Winner hulls as the results from the Nationals show : Will Mason 1st (Team Winner), Nelsen Meacham 2nd (Team Winner), Charlie Bridger 3rd (Winner), 4th Oli Stone (Winner), 5th Nate Soper (Team Winner) 6th Ekhi de Jager (Winner), 7th Matteo Barker (Winner) , 8th Isaac Gaites (Winner), 9th Arthur Rebbeck (Team Winner). 1st Girl Greta Hutton (Winner), 2nd Isla Barker (Winner), 3rd Charlotte Handley (Winner). It seems that 24 out of the top 25 boats were Winner hulls.

Auckland Champs at Kohimarama Yacht Club. The top 12 boats all Winner hulls and 19 of top 22 were Winners. Well done to Nelsen Meacham (Team Winner) for the win and Isla Barker top girl in 3th place.

Sir Peter Blake Regatta: Well done Charlie Bridger winning the Sir Peter Blake regatta at the beginning of December in your newly acquired Winner Optimist. All of the top 15 boats were Winner hulls.

North Islands:

Well done to all the Opti sailors in Taupo over the weekend at the Bayleys North Island Championships. Winner Optimists again dominated the top 20 results. We believe at least 19 of the top 20 boats were Winner Optimists in the Opti Open fleet. Well done to:

Sails have changed recently with the dominant manufacturer being OneSail. Other common brands in the top 30 were J Sails and more recently CD sails.

2023 Nationals in the top 30 we believe:

2021-22

Nationals 2022 were completed over Easter at Napier Sailing Club. Will Leech (Winner) took the title for the second year in a row from Team Winner sailor William Mason, Oli Stone 3rd, Nelsen Meacham (Team Winner) 4th and Mark Mains 5th Overall. All five used Winner Optimists. Isla Barker was 1st Girl with Bella Jenkins 2nd overall (Team Winner) both sailing Winner Optimists. This year there were TWELVE Winner Optimists in the top FIFTEEN places. (and 16 of the top 20) 

In the top 30 the majority of sailors used One Sails with the next most popular being J Sails.

2020-21 – NZ Rankings – Top 4 boats are Winners and 9 of the top 11 are Winner Optimists. 12 out of the top 16 are Winners! 1st Girl used a Winner Hull.

2019-20 – NZ Rankings up to end of Interislander – Top 7 boats are Winners, 7 of the top 13 are Winners. 17 out of the top 20 are Winners. Rankings decided on the three qualifiers only. 1st Girl used a Winner Hull.

Nationals: Well done to all the competitors whom completed the 2020 Optimist Nationals at Worser Bay. The first eight boats overall were Winner Optimists and an incredible 14 out of the top 16 boats were Winners. First girl used a Winner as well. Less than half of the new boats sold are Winners hence this is an outstanding result.

Interislander qualifier: Winner team members Jasper Camenzind and Joe Leith took 1st and 2nd at the Interislander Worlds Qualifier at the weekend in Picton. Followed by South Islanders Noah Malpot and Will Leach in their personezed Winner boats. Sean Kensington took 5th place in his Winner. First girl was Hermione Aris in another Winner and she is loving her Olimpic Sail as is Joe Leith. Jasper used a new JBlue V2 sail and seems to be getting used to it! 12 of the top 13 were Winners and 18 of the top 20 boats were Winners again showing the strength of the brand. 

Sir Peter Blake: What a great event at the Sir Peter Blake Regatta. Wind, waves and sunshine! Top 15 boats were Winner Optimists. Noah Malpot took out the title using a “Wet n Windy” Charter boat, Winner Team member Jasper was 2nd, new Team Member Joe was 3rd, Noah Shirley 4th and other new Team member Alex Norman was 5th. 

Qualifier New Plymouth: The first Qualifier has now been completed. Winner boats took the top 9 places overall. Well done to Noah Shirley 1st, new Winner Team member Joe Leith finishing 2nd, Noah Malpot 3rd. Other Winner Team members Jasper were 6th overall (5th Kiwi) and another new team member Alex Norman finished 7th (6th overall). 17 out of the top 20 boats were winners!

2018-19 – NZ Rankings – 9 of the top 10, 16 of the top 20 boats and 25 of the top 30 Optimists were Winners. 1st Girl used a Winner Hull.

Ranking results are out! Great results for Winner again. In the NZ rankings 9 out of the 10 top sailors were sailing Winners. Also 25 out of the top 30 boats were Winner hulls.

Auckland Champs: 26 out of the top 30 boats in the Optimist fleet were Winners. Well done to all the sailors whom completed all the races.

North Islands Qualifier: Great North Islands for Winner boats with 14 of the top 15 and 25 out of the top 30 boats being Winner hulls.

2017-18 – NZ Rankings – Eight of the top Ten boats in the rankings used Winner Optimists. All of the Worlds Team – George Lee Rush, Joshua Hyde, Amelia Angus, Hugo and Mason all used Winner boats. Three of the Four sailors going to the Europeans used Winner Optimists.  15 of the top 20 used Winner Boats. 1st Girl used a Winner Hull.

Nationals Results: Winner Team member, George Lee Rush has won the New Zealand Nationals followed by Joshua Hyde and Amelia Angus also both Team Winner Members and all will be representing New Zealand at the Worlds. (the final Team Member Robbie Wooldridge will be representing NZ at the Europeans.) Mason Mulcahy and Hugo McMullen both in Winner boats also make the Worlds Team. Joining Robbie in the Europeans will be Naiomi Ferrisey, and George Pilkington both sailing Winner Optimists and also joined by Lucas Day.

Sir Peter Blake: Well done Team Winner sailorJoshua Hyde for Winning the Sir Peter Blake Regatta in style. Sean Sun in another Winner boat was 2nd. Winner Team member George was 3rd. Future team member Robbie in 4th. Mason in his Winner boat was 5th.

North Island Qualifier: The first NQ Qualifier for the National Ranking, was another good event for Winner boats with the top five all sailing Winner optimists. First and second were also the remaining Team Winner sailors Joshua Hyde and George Lee Rush. 10 of the top 13 boats were Winners!

Aims Games: Congratulations to George Lee Rush from the Winner Team on winning the AIMS games overall. Winner boats took the First Six Places overall, 1st,2nd and 3rd Year 8 boys, 1st & 2nd Year 7 boys, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year 8 girls, 1st and 2nd Year 7 girls and both sailors in the 1st school team all used Winner Optimists. 

2016-17 – NZ Rankings – 8 of the top 10 Used Winner Optimists,  Eleven of the top Thirteen boats were Winner Optimists. 1st Girl used a Winner Hull.

Rankings: At the end of the Season it is time to look at the rankings and congratulate the Winner Team and those sailors that have qualified for the traveling teams. Winner Team members Seb Menzies and George Lee Rush made the Worlds Team and Joshua Hyde qualified for the Europeans, a solid performance well done guys! It was also noticeable again how many Winner boats finished at the top of the rankings. 20 of the top 23 sailors used Winner boats.

Sir Peter Blake: Well done George, Joshua and Braden (1,2,3) at the Sir Peter Blake, the top 3 sailing Winner Optimists. Results again are outstanding with all of the top 8 sailing Winner Optimists and an incredible 14 Winner Optimists in the top 16.

New Plymouth Qualifier: Huge seas and a good breeze at New Plymouth. Well done to all the sailors. A brilliant event for Winner Optimists with the top SIX boats all Winner. BUT more amaising is that 15 of the top 18 were Winner Optimists. (and an estimate of 27 of the top 35 boats were Winners). 

2015-16 – NZ Rankings – Fifteen of the top twenty boats were Winner Optimists.
